PROJECT OFFICER

REPORTS TO: PROGRAMME MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY

Project Officerwill be responsible for providing the strategic direction of project activities in the Kuza Jamii project and ensuring the delivery of a gender-responsive programme while working with the implementing partners in the Kuza Jamii Project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic direction of project implementation, ensuring that project goals are achieved within scope and timelines.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and monitoring of programs, resolving issues and initiating corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Track programme deliverables, ensuring quality, timeliness and within budget,
  • Identifying potential risks to the project, developing risk mitigation strategies, and managing issues as they arise.
  • Manage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, managing expectations, and addressing concerns or feedback.
  • Develop and present timely technical reports and updates on the project’s progress, challenges and lessons
  • Document project achievements and human interest stories for communication materials development
  • Work collaboratively with programme staff, partners, and stakeholders to integrate GESI principles into their activities.
  • Serves as a resource for program staff, including addressing implementation challenges and developing innovative and advanced programme ideas for programme development 
  • Provide hands-on guidance and expertise in Gender Equity and Social Inclusion, to assist the team in overcoming technical challenges and making informed decisions
  • Continuously monitor the progress of direct reports, and provide constructive feedback
  • Identify opportunities and participate in resource mobilization efforts in the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC

Bachelors degree in Project Management, Community Development, Gender studies, Business Studies or any other relevant course of study related to the economic inclusion marginalized persons. A Masters degree will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 5 years of project management experience in Gender Equity Social Inclusion programming, with a preference for experience in ASAL contexts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to work in team environments, including building productive partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of sustainable development goals and their implications on the programme.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication, facilitation, and training skills.
  • Demonstrate skills on preparing quality reports and other knowledge products.
  • Attention to detail and discretion in the discussion of sensitive risk-related issues.
  • Knowledge of Gender Policies and Standards in Kenya.

The job holder is accountable to the Country Director.

  • Project Officers.
  • Project Assistants.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY/ CONTACTS

  • Access to assets in the Programme Centers as restricted in ENA’s policies and procedures.
  • Access to all data and information on Programmes in the institution as restricted in ENA’s policies and procedures.
