Damaris is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Certified Public Secretary, and an accredited corporate governance auditor. She is the founder of Damaris W. Gitonga & co Advocates. She also provides legal consultancies in the health and water sectors.

Previously, Damaris worked as Manager, Legal Services at National Bank of Kenya Limited; Legal & Corporation Secretary at National Water Conservation & Pipeline Corporation; Legal Assistant at the firm of Muthoga & Gaturu Advocates and State Counsel, State law office.

Damaris also served as Chair of the corporate Board of Trustee for the Zimele Personal and Guaranteed Pension Plans.
