PROGRAMME ASSISTANT – WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP, POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND GOVERNANCE

DIVISION:           Development Division

REPORTS TO:     Programme Manager, Women’s Leadership, Political Participation and Governance

JOB SUMMARY

The Programme Assistant will provide essential support to the Women’s Leadership, Political Participation, and Governance Programme Centre. This role is integral to the successful implementation of ENA’s political initiatives and requires an individual with strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a passion for women’s empowerment.

KEY TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Programme Assistant is responsible for:

  1. Assist in the implementation of ENA’s political initiatives in alignment with the Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027 and Annual Work Plans.
  2. Support the Head of Women Leadership, Political Participation and Governance in coordinating and executing activities related to women’s leadership, political participation, and governance.
  3. Prepare timely and accurate reports in accordance with ENA’s and partner requirements.
  4. Assist in identifying and mobilizing resources for the Programme Centre, including grant opportunities and partnerships.
  5. Contribute to the implementation of the Women’s Training Programme, particularly under the ‘Running to Win’ series.
  6. Collaborate with team members to drive growth and effectiveness of the Democracy Trust Fund (DTF).
  7. Progressively undertake research, document knowledge for the Centre and disseminate the same to the target audience.
  8. Support all the administrative duties which include (preparation for activity requests, activity planning, mobilization and reporting) for the department.
  9. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Women Leadership, Political Participation and Governance.

QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC:

  • Diploma in Gender & Development, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or a related field. A degree is an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years related experience in programme planning and implementation
  • Report writing and knowledge of project life cycle
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in supporting women’s Programmes, preferably in civic education, democracy, development, or governance, within an NGO or a similar organization.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, donor reporting requirements, and grants management processes.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute positively to group dynamics.
  • Understanding of gender equality issues and knowledge of relevant constitutional provisions.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced political environment while managing stress and meeting tight deadlines.
