Elizabeth Mang’eni is a Trade Development Officer with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives in Kenya, the Co-founder of You4She Initiative with over 3 years of experience in empowering the community and creating disability awareness. You4She is an initiative that was started in 2015 after realizing the need of Menstrual Hygiene Education for young adolescents in the remote areas of Kenya and a gap on disability awareness in the community. She is an advocate for persons with disabilities especially women and girls because they face double discrimination which is based on their disability and gender status and she herself is a woman with disability who faced different challenges while growing up.
She is a YALI- Mandela Washington Fellowship 2017 Alumni and currently on scholarship with African Union to pursue her Master Degree in Entrepreneurship at the University of Nairobi. She is passionate about Entrepreneurship because it gives her the risk to push herself beyond her capabilities to see the development and change she seeks to have in her society. She uses entrepreneurship as a tool to empower women in her community especially those with disabilities.
Five years from now, Elizabeth envision becoming a great motivational speaker touring the world and changing people’s lives without expecting anything in return but only love and tight hugs. She also sees herself in an environment where despite her gender and disability she will be given an opportunity to lead her dreams due to her abilities and not her status.
